Gather your friends, pack the car, grab some snacks and head North of the Murray for experiences as diverse as our geography.

Get out of town and head to the river for a fun and relaxing time with your closest friends. A weekend (or even longer) with the girls, or a boys-only getaway – North of the Murray is perfect for a simple break from the pace of everyday life.

DAY 1 - Start your journey at Corowa

You will find no shortage of accommodation options in Corowa, with camp grounds, caravan parks and plenty of hotels and motels. Our region also boasts excellent self-contained properties, with some offering river frontage for fishing, bird watching or just relaxing. Imagine arriving, settling in and stretching out on the lawn in the warm afternoon air.

Keep your eyes out for a place for dinner – our pubs and specialty restaurants are renowned for their simple, generous meals and warm hospitality. Choose from one of the restaurants in town or visit one of the clubs for an easy dinner, and kick off the weekend with a couple of well-deserved drinks in the evening.

DAY 2 - Explore the surrounds

Head to the golf course and tee off for 18 holes in the late morning. Whether you’re playing with a single-digit handicap or you’re a first-timer, there’s fun to be had with friends on the fairways. Call ahead if you want to arrange a group lesson.

For lunch, head back into town. There are plenty of options, including freshly-made café fare and even a meal and some sweet tastings at Corowa Whisky and Chocolate and Corowa Distilling Co. In the afternoon head back to your accommodation or a well earned rest or take a walk along the Corowa History Trail.

From a simple pub meal with ample drinks in a vibrant beer garden to Italian, Indian or modern Australian cuisines, your group can enjoy a leisurely meal accompanied by the best wines from the region. Any choice is a good one. With mild evenings year-round, there’s always time for a riverside stroll as the stars fill the night skies.

DAY 3 - Discover Mulwala or take a pot-luck adventure

After a lazy sleep in and a long brunch, the open skies and open plains beckon. More golf? More water fun? Or perhaps a drive north to explore our lovely villages?

See the real Australia as you travel through towns such as Balldale, Buraja-Lowesdale, Coreen, Rennie and Savernake, and stop for a home cooked meal at an authentic country pub at Morundah, Boree Creek or Balldale. It’s all on offer – open and welcoming – easy to get to and easy to explore.

If you’d prefer to stick to the main roads and bigger towns, zip across to Mulwala for a scenic lunchtime cruise on the glistening lake (Instagram will light up!) before deciding whether to stretch out your stay even longer, taking full advantage of the easy life on offer North of the Murray.
