Capital Works Projects Update - April 2021

Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds and roads across the Federation Council Region.

The following activities were undertaken within the month of April 2021 by Federation Council’s Works teams:

  • Fixing Local Roads Program – Vegetation - Continue tree clearance work on Bull Plain Road and Redlands Road, (contractor in conjunction with Council).
  • Fixing Local Roads Program – Traffic Facilities - Commence audit of signs for upgrade/replacement in urban streets and rural roads. Continue upgrade Regulatory town speed limit signs from “A” size to “B” size, (50, 60, 80, 100 km/h), Howlong, Urana, Boree Creek, (to be completed in May).
  • Fixing Local Roads Program – Sealing Unsealed Roads - Widgewa Street Morundah sealed, Thomson Street Oaklands ready to seal.
  • Footpaths - Panels replaced William Street Urana.
  • Maintenance Grading - Rosemount Road, Taylors Road, Naughtins Road, Jamiesons Road, Corona Road, Taits Road.
  • Daysdale S Bends - Work nearing completion on new culvert structure for this project.  Following completion of culvert road pavement will be reinstated to two lanes and the project shutdown for winter
  • Fleming Drive Watermain 100mm - Commence works, including under boring driveways and pipe laying.
  • Church Street Watermain 300mm - Commence early works, asset identification, underbore street crossings and pipe laying.
  • Corowa Aquatic Centre - Assist Town Presentation with turf laying.
  • Corowa – Mulwala Cycleway - Commence clearing of vegetation and laying gravel pavement.
  • Flocon Patching Truck - Urban and rural pothole patching as per Reflect. Assist Construction crews on Capital Works Projects & shoulder grading with traffic control as required.
  • Sundry Gang: FLR Program Traffic Facilities in conjunction with Construction teams, various Customer Requests. Footpath repairs. Traffic control for construction crews & contractors where required.
  • Heavy Trucks - Support Grader Gangs & Construction Gangs on maintenance - hauling spoil, gravel, and sand.
  • Federation Way - Continuation of work on Federation Way at Morundah (near completion).
  • MR 59 - Continuation of work on MR59 Urana to Jerilderie Road – REPAIR Program (also near completion).
