Community grants program

Council awarded $30,000 to local community organisations via its Community Grants Program at its April meeting of Council.

The Community Grants Program supports initiatives that deliver a range of social and economic benefits to communities across the Federation Council area. The program provides a more streamlined approach to supporting local community groups, organisations and clubs with delivering community projects and events.

Two rounds are facilitated each year, with a total amount of $60,000 available to fund one-off projects. The aim of the community grant program is to support initiatives that;

  • Increase the range of, and access to, recreational, social, cultural, and environmental activities, programs, and services in the Federation Council area;

  • Reflect our community’s priorities and vision (as outlined in the Council’s Community Strategic Plan 2022-2032 and Delivery Plan 2022-2023.);

  • Provide for the inclusion and participation of all members of the community that enables vulnerable individuals and groups to participate in local activities and opportunities;

  • Foster community partnerships and encourage cooperation between community groups, organisations, and the council to ensure that all residents and organisations benefit from common resources;

  • Promote Federation Council as a vibrant, diverse place to live and visit;

  • Encourage a sense of community pride and allow communities to promote their towns and villages through promotional activities; and

  • Enhance the health and well-being of the Federation community and support a safer and more resilient community.

 Federation Council Mayor, Cr Pat Bourke congratulated grant recipients.

“I would like to take this opportunity to formally thank all community organisations that submitted an application, and congratulate those who were successful,” he said.

“The Community Grants Program is an initiative aiming to empower groups to develop ideas, projects and events that can contribute to the vibrancy and connected community of Federation Council. We see this program as a way to bring forward new ideas and help to develop existing projects to a new height.”

Mayor Bourke said the grants program is a community focused initiative that gives Federation organisations a way of involving the wider community, their participation in local activities and championing projects that have a strong economic and social impact.

“I look forward to seeing projects developed by the community, for the community delivered in the near future,” he said.
