Federation Council and Zenith Town Planning Pty Ltd are preparing a Growth Management Strategy to plan and manage growth and development in Federation Council area over the next 25 years. This strategy will be based upon population change, opportunities and constraints, and the principles of sustainable development. A range of studies will contribute to the Growth Management Strategy that include: Water Servicing, Sewer Servicing, Transport Strategy, Storm Water Servicing, Green Space Servicing, Community Facilities Servicing, Social Services Review, Economic Development Strategy, Housing Strategy, Development Pressure, Lot Size Review, Flood Studies, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Bushfire and Heritage.
To support the strategy development, Council will be hosting a series of drop-in sessions with the community to provide residents with the opportunity to engage and provide feedback on this project.
Drop-in sessions will be held at the following locations and times:
- Tuesday, October 18 at the Corowa Civic Centre, Tom Roberts Room from 10am – 12 noon and the Howlong Library Centre from 2pm – 4pm.
- Wednesday, October 19 at the Mulwala Library from 10am – 12 noon and the Urana Council Chambers from 2pm – 4pm.
Federation Council Mayor, Councillor Pat Bourke encouraged residents to attend the drop-in sessions and engage with Council on the development of the Growth Strategy.
“This Growth Strategy will apply to the whole of Federation Local Government Area and be based upon demographic predictions and development opportunities,” he said.
“The overall aim of the growth management strategy is to identify the scale, location, and timing of future residential and employment growth within the Federation region based on community feedback and needs. This will look at extensive analysis of growth assumptions, emerging trends, constraints, and opportunities.”
