POSTPONED TO 2023

Due to the current flood event impacting Corowa and the surrounding region, unfortunately, the decision has been made to postpone the Federation Community Expo scheduled on Thursday 10 November, 3pm - 6pm.

At this stage, it is expected that the event will occur during 2023.

Federation Council wishes to thank all services and community organisations who expressed interest in attending. The response has been incredible and we look forward to working with you to plan the event next year.

 

Whether you are new to the Federation Council or a long-term resident keen to know more about the local services on offer, then don’t miss the Federation Community Expo on Thursday 10 November, 3pm – 6pm at Bangerang Park in Corowa.

This is a free community event to showcase the organisations, clubs, groups, and service providers in the Federation Council area. It will include kids’ activities, a free sausage sizzle and live music throughout the afternoon.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Pat Bourke said that the Expo will offer something for everyone, whether you are new to the area or a long-term resident keen to know more about the many services available.

“Council in partnership with members from the Federation Interagency Group have organised this event as a way of informing, empowering and connecting our local community with the many diverse community services and groups in and around Federation Council,” he said.

“There has been a tremendous response from local groups and we encourage everyone to get behind this event and find out what is on offer!”

Who will be there?

Corowa High School hospitality students will be whipping up some free afternoon tea alongside the Rotary Club of Corowa who will be firing up the BBQ for a free snag or two. Looking for something more grab a donut from the Corowa Cougars!

Attendees can expect to see and hear from over fifty local groups. These community groups and service providers who are keen to touch base with the community about their many services, programs and events, what they have to offer with some hands-on and come and try activities to join in.

Arts and cultural groups

  • Watch the art and craft demonstration from groups such as the Corowa Creatives, Gallery 294, Upper Murray Quirky Events, and

Community groups

  • Find out what the Corowa & District She Shed and Corowa Men’s Shed are up to or sing along with Sing Australia, or listen to kazoo with the Merry Murray Madams Red Hat Chapter

Disability and Aged Care Providers

  • Find out about the many disability and aged care services and programs available to you through organisations such as MHA Care, Plan and Connect, Intereach, Supported Plus, One Door Mental Health, Seniors Rights, and Australian Unity or speak with a Services Australia Aged Care Specialist Officer.

Educational providers

  • Check out educational opportunities available through St Marys Catholic School, Corowa High School and Tafe NSW

Event organisers

  • Talk with the event organisers from KVE, Corowa Pastoral, and the Agricultural and Horticultural Society Inc and see what they are up to.

Family and Children

  • Discover more about our youth, children and family programs including Early Day’s Therapies, Upper Murray Family Day Care, Noah’s Arc, Intereach, Corowa Playgroup and St Marys Playgroup.

Health and Wellbeing

  • Find out how St Vincent de Paul Society - Coordinated Continuing care Program (CCCP), Federation Primary Prevention Team (Drugs and Alcohol), Farm Community Counsellor from MLHD, and Linking communities Network (WDVCAS) are helping people.

Special Interest

  • Find your passion with a special interest group such as the Corowa and District Historical Society, Corowa Business Chamber, Landcare, Who is My Neighbour- Corowa Rutherglen Support Group, or the NSW Grow Project.

Service Agencies

  • Watch a lifejacket self-servicing demonstrations by Transport for NSW Maritime or learn how to save on everyday costs with Service NSW.
  • Speak to Emergency Management experts from Australian Red Cross and the National Emergency Management Agency – Murrumbidgee.

Service Clubs

  • Discover how to get involved in a local service club such as Inner Wheel Club of Corowa District, Corowa Men’s Probus, Rotary Club of Corowa, Corowa Lions Club, and Corowa Wahgunyah Mixed Probus.

Sporting Clubs

  • Come and try a new sport with the Corowa Rutherglen United Hockey Club, Corowa Croquet, Corowa Anglers Club, Corowa Civic Bowls, Corowa Cougars, Corowa Rowing Club, Corowa RSL Bowls, Sharks Swimming, and the Yarra Yacht Club.

Once you have visited all the stalls, participated in the interactive activities why not sit back and listen to the cool tunes of local musicians, The Rivereens and enjoy the afternoon.
