Council staff excited about new brand

Federation Council has unveiled its brand, with the adoption of a new logo and visual identity at its February Council meeting.

The development of the brand has been an extensive process, involving the completion of hundreds of surveys as well as focus groups and interviews.

Federation Council Administrator, Mike Eden said the engagement phase of the project was invaluable in informing the brand strategy.

'The logo has been developed based on extensive research and consultation with people living both in and outside the local government area.' he said.

Local primary school students were also interviewed to understand what they liked about the area and what they hoped for the future.

'It was important that we understood how people perceived the area, what our strengths were, what opportunities exist and how we should position ourselves moving forward.' Mr Eden said.

'The involvement of young people in this process provided some key insights and really added a great deal of value.'

'The body of work completed to inform the brand will also be fundamental when it comes time for the new council to develop its community strategic plan.' he said.

The logo incorporates the colours blue, green and orange and is built around the twin themes of water and a flag. The flag represents Federation and unity, while the water is the linking element across the council area.

The tagline 'Creating Opportunity, Celebrating Community' encapsulates many of the themes recognised through the consultation phase. Loyalty to local communities, a passion for economic, social and population growth and a determination to work towards a better future were identified as key characteristics of communities.

'We are very pleased with the finished product and thank everyone who was involved in this process by completing surveys and participating in focus groups.' said Mr Eden.

A progressive roll out is planned, with the brand to become effective from 1 March.

'It will take some time to apply the artwork to everything, but there is a good plan in place to ensure this happens as quickly as possible.' said the Administrator.

Council will also be launching its new website on 1 March and expects to see a considerable improvement in the delivery of its online services.

'This has been another huge project and the outcome is very exciting. The new site is modern, user friendly and most importantly, it will allow residents to find the information they need quickly and easily.' Mr Eden said.
