Federation Council launches new tourism era with new brand
Published on 10 November 2020
A new era has commenced for tourism in Federation Council, with the local government organization launching its new tourism branding – North of the Murray on the tourism website and social media channels.
While the region has marketed itself through ‘Visit Corowa Region’ for a number of years, following the merger, Council set out to embark on an extensive branding project and marketing strategy development to encompass the many different tourism highlights and assets of the new Federation Council area. The transformation on these platforms is just the first stage of brand implementation.
Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke said Council was pleased to formally present the new brand to the community and tourism stakeholders involved in the development of this foundational piece of work.
“The key objective of our new brand is to be consumer focused to increase visitation to the region” Mayor Bourke said.
“The new North of the Murray brand will help maximize the potential of our marketing and promotional efforts. North of the Murray brand will play a major role moving forward in growing Federation Council’s position as one of the most dynamic tourism, business, agricultural and residential regions.”
North of the Murray Brand Story
This is a part of Australia that offers more. A landscape that's framed by an iconic river and lake to the south, broad open plains and a lake to the north, big skies above and rich red earth below. With our diverse geography, we offer a diversity of experience – from great food to the great outdoors, from world-class golf to watersport adventures – and all bound together with a proud heritage. It was in the town of Corowa that federation was born – of great things coming together – and that sums us up today. A place of diversity and choice. Here, there's more to see, more to taste, more to do, more to experience. This is where you can drive right up to the water's edge, set up camp or cast a line without a care. Everything is open, and everything is easy. Away from the pace of modern life, this is where you can spend more quality time. Back to nature. Back to what matters. Back to simple pleasures. Because at the end of the day, sometimes less is more, and we're about that too. This is where there's more to discover. This is where there's more to life.
Mayor Bourke said 2020 has been a difficult year for tourism operators, and the tourism branding project could not have been delivered at a more crucial time, to assist in promoting visitation to our region.
“Council has been progressively working with our tourism stakeholders over many months to get to this stage and to say there is a high level of excitement is an understatement,” he said.
“Over the coming weeks, Council will transition its digital assets and work on delivering new marketing material to tourism stakeholders to utilise on their own channels and within their own businesses. As the North of the Murray brand grows we will build an even stronger tourism market and in turn, bring more visitors to our region.”
In closing Mayor Bourke encouraged residents to share the great news of the tourism brand with visitors from the past, and those who are planning to visit the region in the future.
“This brand reflects our wonderful region, and I know Council are really looking forward to delivering the many successful marketing campaigns developed through our destination marketing strategy for many years to come,” he said.
“Thank you to the many tourism operators who have been involved in the development of this brand. The outcome is a true credit to you all, and another fine example of the successes we experience when Council and the community work together.”
