Get ready to roll! Federation Council is proud to announce free skate workshops in Howlong and Corowa, designed for young skaters of all skill levels, during the upcoming school holidays.

In partnership with Totem Skateboarding, Australia’s largest and longest-running skate event company, Council is bringing exciting opportunities for youth to learn and showcase their skills.

The schedule includes:

  • Howlong Skatepark: Tuesday, 22 April – Learn to Skate Workshop.

  • Corowa Skatepark: Wednesday, 23 April – Learn to Skate Beginner Class, Mentoring Skate Session, and Skate & Scooter JAM with fantastic prizes.

Totem Skateboarding is dedicated to inspiring a new generation of skaters through knowledge, respect, and fun. They provide a holistic approach to community engagement, ensuring everyone has the chance to participate and enjoy the sport.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook, expressed her enthusiasm for the events, stating.

“We are delighted to offer these free skate workshops to our young community members,” she said.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to learn new skills, have fun, and connect with others. These events not only promote physical activity but also foster a sense of community spirit. We are especially thankful to the NSW Government for their support through the Regional Youth Holiday Break - Autumn 2025 Grant.”

Mayor Cook said Council is also pleased to have the Federation Primary Prevention Team and Intereach on site, providing valuable information on healthy lifestyles and support resources.

“This holistic approach ensures our youth are supported in all aspects of their wellbeing,” she said.

The Federation Primary Prevention Team will be on hand to offer insights into preventing drug and alcohol use, promoting healthy living. Intereach will also be present, sharing details about their Reach Out And Relax (ROAR) Program. Adding to the fun, the Youth Council will provide music, and attendees can enjoy free face painting and community BBQs.

The workshops are open to participants aged 6 and up, with all professional-grade equipment supplied, including skateboards, helmets, and optional safety pads. Participants are also welcome to bring their own equipment.

Spaces are limited, and bookings are essential. A return bus service will be available for the Corowa event, with stops in Urana and Oaklands. A sausage sizzle and drinks will be supplied for lunch.
